ASAM, established on 22 December 1995, is the only NGO in Turkey in the field of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. The purpose of ASAM is to deal with the problems of refugees, asylum seekers, temporary asylum seekers and migrants, to find solutions to these problems and to help these people.

The major objective of ASAM is to promote better understanding and to generate solutions to those problems encountered by asylum-seekers, migrants and refugees via media events so as to raise awareness in public opinion and obtain their support. Another objective is to impede the refugee creating predicaments, to conduct research to better understand reasons of those predicaments; supporting and publishing research in the field, advising and doing enterprises in the field are other aims of ASAM. Advocating the rights of refugees and asylum-seekers, providing counseling to those people, and helping them to establish communication with authorities can also be counted as further goals of our organisation.
