(GBÝM)
“The Center of Information Gathering and Awareness Raising on
International and Internal Migration ” launched its operation on 1 March
1999 was a project of ASAM financially supported by the European Commission.
The name of the center was designated as “ Migration and Asylum Information
Center - GBIM.”
The Center activities include a database and documentation thorough
analysis of mechanisms and dynamics of migration taking place in Turkey
and surrounding regions; a series of workshops organised in order to facilitate
the discussions around policy and awareness issues related to the refugees
and asylum-seekers; academic research papers to produce academic research
papers using the database developed by ASAM; policy discussion papers after
each workshop mentioned above.
Networking with other NGOs and Organisations
ASAM cooperates closely with the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE); UNITED for Intercultural Action – European network against nationalism, racism, fascism and in support of migrants and refugees; Civic Network (Turkish network among NGOs); UNHCR; International Organisation for Migration (IOM); and many other national and international organisations and institutions with a view to promoting programs and assistance beneficial to refugees.
